Ten human rights organizations published a joint position on the Rule of Law Roadmap, welcoming its adoption while proposing to specify measures considering wartime conditions. The document contains detailed recommendations for the “Fundamental Rights” and “Justice, Freedom and Security” sections of the EU negotiation framework.
Key proposals include updating the National Human Rights Strategy considering the consequences of Russian aggression, harmonizing torture legislation with international standards, unifying the list of characteristics protected from discrimination, adopting the registered partnerships bill, canceling the “United News” information telethon, and ensuring journalists’ protection. Human rights defenders also emphasize the need for systematic participation of civil society organizations in preparing draft laws and strategies, with mandatory feedback on the consideration of provided proposals.
