President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Yuriy Barabash as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. This is the second appointment of a CCU judge by presidential quota in 2025 – Oleksandr Vodyannikov was appointed in June. These appointments restored the court’s quorum, which had been absent since January 27, 2025.
Yuriy Barabash is a Doctor of Law, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Strategic Development at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, and a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences. Oleksandr Vodyannikov has extensive experience working with international organizations, particularly as a coordinator of OSCE projects in Ukraine. Currently, 12 judges work at the CCU, allowing the court to function fully. Two more vacancies remain under the Verkhovna Rada’s quota.
