President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law establishing the Specialized District Administrative Court and Specialized Appellate Administrative Court to replace the liquidated KDAC. The High Council of Justice determined the staffing for the new courts: 17 judges for the district court and 10 for the appellate court.
These courts will hear administrative cases involving the highest government bodies – the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries, and other central executive agencies. The creation of new courts is an important part of Ukraine’s European integration process and one of the requirements of the IMF and EU. The High Qualification Commission of Judges must announce a competition for judicial positions within a month, with the involvement of an Expert Council including representatives of international organizations.
