Statement on the 12th anniversary of Crimea’s resistance to Russian occupation

26.02.2026
On Crimean Resistance Day against Russian occupation, the Crimean Human Rights House, its member organisations and the Human Rights Houses Foundation reaffirm their commitment to protecting the human rights, fundamental freedoms and dignity of all persons on the peninsula.

The situation in occupied Crimea continues to deteriorate. Reports from international organisations, monitoring bodies and member organisations of the Crimean Human Rights House indicate ongoing violations:

  • suppression of political, civil, economic, social and cultural rights;
  • forced passportisation and demographic changes;
  • forced conscription;
  • unlawful deportation and forced displacement;
  • militarisation and political indoctrination of children, etc.

Civil society organisations call on all UN member states, international organisations and civil society to take decisive action. Immediate, coordinated and consistent measures are necessary to counter the growing human rights violations and international crimes in occupied Crimea.

In addition, civil society organisations published a Manifesto for Resistance Day.
