The consistent continuation of judicial reform, which includes, in particular, the staffing of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, is one of the key elements of Ukraine’s fulfilment of its obligations to the EU in the area of the rule of law. The selection of candidates for the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine is part of one of the seven recommendations of the European Commission. The appointment of Ihor Kushnir means that the Commission is now complete and can function fully.
“Ukraine continues to demonstrate progress and commitment to reforms on its path to the EU. The appointment of a new member of the High Qualification Commission of Judges is not only a clear signal to our European partners that Ukraine is capable of fulfilling its commitments in the field of the rule of law, but also consistent work to ensure the trust of Ukrainian citizens in the entire justice system,” commented Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.
